FAQ

Straight answers about business IT

Short, plain-English answers. If yours isn't here, ask us. We'll probably add it.

Working with us

Where is Secure Integrations located, and what areas do you serve?

We're based in South Charlotte (28217) and work with businesses across Charlotte, including South End, SouthPark, Ballantyne, Pineville, Matthews, Huntersville and nearby Fort Mill and Rock Hill, SC. Most work is done remotely; on-site visits are available across the metro.

What size businesses do you work with?

Everyone from one-person offices to larger, multi-site organizations. Many clients are small and mid-sized teams that want dependable IT without an in-house department, and we build custom applications and platforms for companies of any size.

How does pricing work?

Projects such as a Microsoft 365 migration or a new website get a fixed quote after a free 20-minute call, so you know the cost before work begins. Ongoing support is a predictable monthly fee.

Will we be locked into a contract?

No. Your domains, email tenant and website are registered to your business, and everything we set up is documented, so you can take it elsewhere at any time.

Do you offer on-site IT support in Charlotte?

Yes. Most issues are solved remotely within the same business day, and we come on-site across the Charlotte area for networks, Wi-Fi, new equipment and anything that needs hands on hardware.

Can you help if our previous IT person or web designer disappeared?

Yes, this is common. We recover access to your domain, email and website accounts, move them into accounts you own, and document everything so it can't happen again.

Do you work with businesses outside Charlotte?

Email, domain, website and security work is fully remote, so we support businesses anywhere in the US. On-site work is focused on the Charlotte metro.

How quickly do you respond?

Support requests during business hours (Mon–Fri, 8am–6pm ET) are answered the same day, and urgent outages are prioritized immediately.

Microsoft 365

How long does a Microsoft 365 migration take for a small business?

For a team of 5–25 people, planning and background copying usually take a few days, and the actual cut-over happens in one evening. Staff keep working in their old mailbox until the switch, then open Outlook the next morning with everything in place.

Can you move our email from GoDaddy to Microsoft 365?

Yes. GoDaddy-hosted Microsoft 365 and GoDaddy Workspace email are among the most common moves we do. We migrate the mail, take the domain out of GoDaddy's tenant, and repoint DNS so nothing bounces.

Do we need to buy licenses through you?

No. You can buy licenses directly from Microsoft and keep full ownership of the tenant. We work as an administrator on an account that stays yours.

Google Workspace

Should a small business use Google Workspace or Microsoft 365?

Both work well. Google Workspace suits teams that live in the browser and collaborate in Docs and Sheets; Microsoft 365 suits teams that depend on desktop Excel, Word and Outlook or on industry software built for Windows. We'll recommend one based on how your team actually works.

Can you move us from personal Gmail accounts to Google Workspace?

Yes. We create company accounts on your domain and copy each person's mail, contacts and Drive files across, so the business owns the data from then on.

Business email

Why are our emails going to spam?

Usually because the domain is missing SPF, DKIM or DMARC records, or because they're set up incorrectly. Gmail and Yahoo have required them for bulk senders since 2024, and they increasingly affect everyone. Fixing the records is often the whole cure.

Can we keep our existing email address?

Yes. Your address is tied to your domain, not to a provider, so we can move it to a better platform without changing it.

Domain & DNS

What are SPF, DKIM and DMARC?

They are three DNS records that prove email from your domain is genuine. SPF lists the servers allowed to send for you, DKIM adds a cryptographic signature, and DMARC tells receiving servers what to do with mail that fails those checks and sends you reports about it.

What happens if our domain expires?

Your website and email stop working, often within hours, and after the grace period anyone can buy the name. We register domains in your own account with auto-renew and a second billing contact, so this can't happen quietly.

Website design

How long does it take to build a small business website?

A typical 5–10 page site takes three to six weeks from first conversation to launch. Most of that time is gathering content and photos; the build itself moves quickly.

Will my website show up in ChatGPT and Google AI answers?

We build so that it can: every page is delivered as plain HTML (many AI crawlers don't run JavaScript), crawlers are allowed in robots.txt, and business details are marked up with schema.org. Being recommended also depends on reviews and listings elsewhere, which we help you set up.

Hosting & care

Can you take over hosting for a site someone else built?

Usually, yes. We start with an audit (what it runs on, how it's backed up, what's out of date), move it somewhere safer if needed, and then keep it maintained.

Web apps & PWAs

What is a progressive web app?

A PWA is a website that installs to a phone's home screen and behaves like an app: it opens full-screen, works offline and can send notifications, but it's built once for every device and updated without going through an app store.

How much does a custom web app cost?

It depends on scope. We start with a short paid discovery that produces a fixed-price plan for a first version, so you know the cost before any build begins.

Cybersecurity

What cybersecurity does a small business actually need?

Start with the controls that stop most real attacks: multi-factor sign-in on email and every business app, up-to-date devices, email authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), and backups kept separate from your network. Monitoring and secure remote access come next.

Are small businesses really targeted by hackers?

Yes, mostly through automated attacks that don't care about company size: stolen passwords, phishing emails and ransomware. That's why the basics, done consistently, make the biggest difference.

Managed IT & infrastructure

What does a managed IT service include?

At minimum: monitoring of your devices and network, security updates, backups, a help desk your staff can call, and someone who keeps the whole setup documented. We add infrastructure design and projects as you need them.

Cloud & modernization

Is it time to replace our office server?

If it's more than five years old, out of warranty, or the only copy of your files lives on it, then yes, it's time to plan. Most small businesses can move those files to Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace and retire the box entirely.
